The U.S. bishops voted unanimously in favor of advancing the cause on the local level of the beatification and canonization of the Shreveport Martyrs this month. Shreveport is blessed by their intercession, according to Bishop Francis Malone and parishioners.
This year marks the 150th anniversary year of their work and deaths during the devastating yellow fever epidemic of 1873.
