Sharing of the Oplatki at St. Casmir Church

Sunday, January 22, 2017 at St. Casimir Church after the 11:30 AM Mass a sharing of the “Oplatki” (plural), “Oplatek” (singular) will take place with a home cooked luncheon (Polish Style).

“Oplatek” is a symbol of this ancient custom that’s meaning is forgiveness and reconciliation among friends and family, along with wishes for health, success, marriage etc.  It is practiced at the Polish Christmas Eve Meal (the Wigilia) and throughout the ensuing season until February 2nd where friends and organizations gather to mark a new beginning.

Not only will lunch be served with the breaking of the Oplatek, but a special treat is the return of the PNA’s Polish Children’s School “Maria Kopnicka School” will reinact the “Jaselka” (Nativity) and sing those lovely and unique Polish Koledy  (carols).

The meaning of Christmas (birth of the Savior) continues at St. Casimir and all are invited and welcome to celebrate as the family of Christ!

St. Casimir Church, is located at 8223 Sowinski Ave. with a bi-lingual Mass, rich in Tradition and rich in Faith, come and experience this annual event
