Quire Cleveland Free Concert @ St. Noel Church (Willoughby Hills)
May 14, 2022 @ 8:00 pm
Throughout history, composers have had the honor of writing music for specific choirs in unique churches and cathedrals around Europe. Northeast Ohio, having been settled by descendants familiar with such grand architecture, offers glorious spaces that lend themselves well to those ancient sounds.
As the earth begins its return to life after the long winter, this Quire Cleveland concert series will offer musical splendor to awaken the soul, highlighting double choir treasures and works in which grand spaces truly live.
Composers from the early 16th century through the mid-20th century are represented on this program, some already familiar and some you’ll be happy to discover. Brumel, Gabrieli, and Stanford are just a few. We’ll publish the full concert program listing in mid-April, revealing the grand spaces that motivated the compositions. Notre Dame in Paris, San Marco in Venice, and Trinity College, Cambridge, are among them.
Below, you’ll find concert details and links to venue information for three grand northeast Ohio spaces where you can experience this music. We look forward to seeing you at one of these concerts.
Admission to all performances is free. Seating is open, and no tickets or reservations are required. A freewill offering will be taken (suggested donation $25 per person).
The length of this concert is about 75 minutes in its entirety, including a 10-minute pause for the free-will offering (but no “intermission”).
Masks are optional for attendees.
All of our singers are fully vaccinated (including booster dose) and will be required to provide negative COVID-19 test results throughout the rehearsal and concert period so they can perform unmasked in our usual ensemble arrangement.
