Holy Hour for Crisis/Scandal in Catholic Church

A holy hour of reparation for the crisis and scandal in the Catholic Church will be held on Thurs., Sept. 13 from 6:30-7:30 p.m. at Holy Family in Parma. Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament, Divine Mercy Chaplet, and the Rosary will all be part of this Holy Hour as we pray for the Church, the faithful, the victims, the clergy and ask for God’s mercy on us all.
If you are feeling frustrated, discouraged and upset about the clerical sex abuse scandal in the Catholic Church, here’s what Pope Francis is asking the faithful to do:
Aug. 20 Vatican City, CNA/EWTN News: “Pope Francis calling for every member of the Catholic Church to pray and fast in penance for the evil of clerical sex abuse, and to be involved in needed change within the Church.”
“The only way that we have to respond to this evil that has darkened so many lives is to experience it as a task regarding all of us as the People of God,” Pope Francis wrote on Aug. 20.
In a letter to the entire Church following widespread revelations of clerical sex abuse in the Church in the United States, the pope invited “the entire holy faithful People of God to a penitential exercise of prayer and fasting, following the Lord’s command.”
In obedience to the request of the Holy Father, all parishioners and HF organizations are invited to join the Divine Mercy Cenacle in a Holy Hour of Prayer and Reparation.
- Thursday, September 13 from 6:30-7:30 p.m. in the church.
- Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament, Divine Mercy Chaplet, and the Rosary will all be part of this Holy Hour as we pray for the Church, the faithful, the victims, the clergy and ask for God’s mercy on us all.
“This can awaken our conscience and arouse our solidarity and commitment to a culture of care that says ‘never again’ to every form of abuse,” Pope Francis said. “Every one of the baptized should feel involved in the ecclesial and social change that we so greatly need.”
