Sandy Hook 10 Years Later: Newtown Remembers and Continues to Heal

This December 14 marks the 10th anniversary of the Dec. 14, 2012, school shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary, where 26 people were shot and killed, including 20 6- and 7-year-olds and six adults. It was the deadliest elementary school shooting in U.S. history. At the memorial, water flows through a granite basin in a spiral inwards towards a center planter where a young tree symbolizes the age of the young victims, according to the designer’s website.
