Poor Clares of Perpetual Adoration Fundraiser
October 30, 2016 @ 10:00 am
The 9th Annual Poor Clares of Perpetual Adoration Foundation Fundraising Gala will be held October 30th at St. Paul’s Shrine at 4108 Euclid Avenue in Cleveland, Ohio. The Brunch and live Auctions will be held next door at The Centers for Families and Children, 4500 Euclid Avenue. Don’t miss this exciting yearly event.
The Gala starts with 10am Mass at the Shrine celebrated by Bishop Roger Gries. Then, after a visit with the Sisters in the visitation rooms, you’ll be treated to a wonderful luncheon, live auctions and great entertainment.
The event will include a talk by Mother Thomas, who attended the Institute of Art in Chicago and painted with muralists in Mexico before she got her call to be a nun. Most recently, Mother Thomas completed a 28’x17′ mural 11 years in the making, and there will be an opportunity to see this mural at the event. She was originally commissioned by an African American parish in Philadelphia to paint a mural of Mary, but this parish closed while she was in the process of painting it. Now there is a potential that the mural will be place in the Vatican Museum in Rome. As part of the event, Mother Thomas, now in her early 80s, will be giving a talk on the power of art as a form of prayer.
