Patriotic Rosary

To commemorate Patriot Day, a Patriotic Rosary will be prayed on Saturday, September 11 after the 4:30 pm Vigil Mass. “Patriot Day” is an annual observance to remember the nearly 3,000 people who were injured or died during the terrorist attacks in the United States on September 11, 2001. Many Americans refer to Patriot Day as 9/11 or September 11.
The Patriotic Rosary is scripted for prayer beginning with remembering the Holy Father, other religious offices, and “For the Conversion of our Country.” The reading of a meditative “Mystery” follows with a dedication to a governmental office(s) and/or service, followed by the “Our Father.” Then each of ten states and its peoples are mentioned on the ten “Hail Marys.” After continuing with the “Glory Be,” a patriotic song is sung. This script is followed throughout the five decades of the Patriotic Rosary, ending the rosary with the usual “Hail Holy Queen.”
