United Nations International Pilgrim Virgin Statue Fatima Centennial Tour
August 13 @ 8:00 am - 8:00 pm
The United Nations International Pilgrim Virgin Statue will be traveling to several parish churches in Ohio and the Cleveland Area.
Information about the statue:
This is one of the four famous statues sculpted according to the specifications of Sister Lucia, seer of Fatima, by Jose Thedein, the Michelangelo of Portugal. All four statues were blest by Pope Pius XII on May 13, 1947. The Bishop of Fatima then sent them out into the world to proclaim the message of Fatima. This particular statue was brought to the United States from Fatima on December 8, 1952 specifically for the United Nations. Msgr. Harold Colgon, who founded the Blue Army of Lady of Fatima, placed this statue in the United Nations Meditation Room and there led the recitation of the rosary. For this reason she is known as the United Nations International Pilgrim Virgin Statue of Our Lady Fatima.
The custodian of this statue, Judith Studer, who was diagnosed with terminal colon cancer, was healed through the intercession of Our Lady of Fatima while this statue was visiting her diocese. In thanksgiving for this great healing and grace, she promised Our Lady to promote devotion to Jesus through Mary. She was later asked to be the custodian of this famous image of Our Lady. She has traveled the United States and other countries promoting the Fatima message of prayer (the rosary), penance and reparation.
During this centennial year of the Fatima apparitions let us welcome into our area this famous image of the Mother of God under her title of Our Lady of Fatima. Come, pray, venerate and ask for the many graces and blessings we need in our earthly sojourn to heaven. Our Heavenly Mother is waiting patiently to shower us with these graces. Let us welcome her and in the words of St. Louis de Montefort let us go “To Jesus through Mary.”
