Mass for Life aimed at ending abortion through the power of prayer set for Jan. 22
On the 45th anniversary of the 1973 U.S. Supreme Court Roe v. Wade decision to legalize abortion, the Catholic Diocese of Cleveland diocesan-wide “Mass for Life” will be held at the Cathedral of St. John Evangelist in downtown Cleveland on Monday, Jan. 22. All those interested in praying for an end to the tragic loss of the unborn through abortion are encouraged to attend the Mass, which begins at 10 a.m. Bishop emeritus of the Diocese of Davenport and former Auxiliary Bishop of the Diocese of Cleveland Martin J. Amos will be the main celebrant and homilist. A Rosary for Life will be prayed after Mass. This Mass represents the diocesan observance of the Day for Prayer for the Legal Protection of Unborn Children.
The Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist is located at East Ninth Street and Superior Avenue in downtown Cleveland.
According to the Ohio Department of Health, there were 20,672 abortions reported in the state of Ohio for 2016, the latest year for which statistics were available.
